My Response to the attack by my opponent Burton Leland-Northwest Detroiters for Better Government.
Unbelievable  A new low even for Burton Leland - (A.K.A) Northwest Detroiters for Better Government- Leland still will not talk about the issues because he voted for cuts in health  public safety and juvenile services while spending thousands on mailings to attack and discredit me.

Having been exposed once for paying Lakeyta Howell $5000 to send out negative, untrue and inflammatory mail against me, he's back and now behind a fictitious made up organization called Northwest Detroiters for Better Government to do his dirty work.  Not only is this cowardly but is so dishonest that I'm asking the Secretary of State to immediately began an investigation of this most recent set of distortions that are unsigned and carries no disclaimer, we are also requesting a thorough review of the full extent of his contribution to Lakeyta Howell in the 2008 Commission race.

Leland will do and say anything and we deserve better than spending time and money on nonsense and give-away's of  T-shirts and pencils but its time to provide real solutions.  For years Burton Leland has portrayed himself as someone he's not and it's time we hold him accountable by sending him a message that we are not going to listen or be slicked into voting for someone who is playing games with our future.  There is too much real work to be done and  am willing to stand up and step up for Detroit. I denounce politics of destruction as practice by Leland and his followers.
From Michigan Chroncile   June 16, 2010

"I’m worried about our city and our leadership but what’s more important to me is electing good God fearing and ethical people and helping them in their relationship with God.  I want to talk to you about Commissioner Burton Leland.  We have been electing Leland for over 30 years in NW Detroit.  I saw a letter he sent out saying that he was being attacked because he is white in a black community.  But he didn’t say who attacked him or when he was attacked.  I’m asking Leland to tell us who, when and where he was attacked.   When I read his letter I thought to myself Leland must want us to feel sorry for him because he is running against all black women.   Racism is not anything to play with.  In my 82 years, I have seen racism and it ought not to be taken lightly. We must move beyond race.

It’s difficult as Jesus said “to pour new wine into old sheepskin”, we must pour new wine into new sheepskin and making race an issue is not good for our community. We can’t go back to having two Detroit's, one black one white, one rich one poor.  I am convinced that Commissioner Burton Leland is not the right person to represent NW Detroit if he has played the race card.    I pray that this was not a plan by Leland and his campaign and if so he should just quit the race.  It makes me think of the saying  "Beware of a Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing".

God Bless
